About

Jill Geller, LCAT, ATR-BC, RYT

I’ve been a New York State licensed, nationally board certified Art Therapist (LCAT, ATR-BC) for over 15 years and a registered yoga teacher (RYT) for nearly as long. Along with teaching yoga classes at studios in NYC and Greenwich, CT, I’ve practiced Art Therapy as a primary clinical therapist in a partial-hospitalization program, assisted in the opening of a community art therapy center in New York City and have consulted for nonprofit agencies serving various populations in and around Manhattan.

Clients have included children and adolescents managing a range of needs such as depression, anxiety, adhd and oppositional defiance, at-risk students in NYC public high schools and group home settings, children and teens recovering from traumatic brain injuries and other medical issues, families experiencing acute and long term medical crisis, as well as adults needing support during life’s transitional stages.

In addition to working with The Art Therapy Project, a NYC based nonprofit mental health organization, and teaching yoga classes at Kaia Yoga, I work with a small group practice in Pleasantville, NY and I run a private Art Therapy practice for individuals and small groups. Common themes addressed in therapy sessions are: depression, anxiety, working though traumas, managing stress before, during and through the Covid-19 pandemic, relationships, grief, and the general search for life’s meaning.

Into the art making, I weave elements of my regular meditation practice and on-going training and practice as a yoga teacher. I supplement the Art Therapy experience with relaxation techniques, visualization, meditation, breath work and gentle, accessible movement when desired, applicable and useful.
